With more than 35 years of experience as a second-generation architect and interior designer, Genco Berk specializes in high-end residential, commercial, and hospitality projects across Europe, China, and the Middle East.
Genco calls himself an Austrian "world citizen" — born in Istanbul, raised in Frankfurt, the son of an architect and a painter. Creativity wasn't something he discovered later in life; it was the household he grew up in, reinforced by family trips across Europe and visits to events like Documenta.
He began working alongside his father at just 17, then went on to study architecture in Turkey and the United States. His first major commission — the representative office for Dresdner Bank A.G. in Istanbul — set the tone for a career now spanning more than three decades. A move to Vienna in 1990 pulled him deeper into hospitality design, and years spent in Florence, Milan, and Rome shaped the design philosophy he still works from today.
Since 2004, Genco has been based in Shanghai, delivering residential, commercial, and hospitality projects built around sustainability and energy efficiency — including a series of award-winning boutique hotels. Today, that same expertise is finding a new home in Dubai's luxury market.
